Spirometry testing
What is this service?
Spirometry is a simple test used to help diagnose and monitor certain lung conditions by measuring how much air you can breathe out in one forced breath. During the pandemic, GP practices had to pause spirometry testing due to the potential risk of spreading Covid-19. This means that hundreds of people across the country have had to wait for testing to get the results that could confirm a diagnosis of respiratory problems. This service has been set up to reduce the time that people are having to wait for a spirometry test.
Who is it for?
This service is for patients who are on the existing waiting list, and is a great example of how we're working together in York to help local health care services recover from the effects of the Covid19 pandemic.
Where is it based?
At our Acomb Garth Community Care Centre in our dedicated Spirometry Suite.
How can I access this service?
Go through your GP practice, which can refer you to the service if it's appropriate for you.
Who provides this service?
Nimbuscare has created a dedicated Spirometry Suite, which contains specialist equipment and has the necessary ventilation required for the safe testing of patients. The suite can be booked by our member GP practices. They book and staff the clinics, and we provide the facilities.
