In the media spotlight as Sky TV visit to focus on our work around sustainable PPE
Nimbuscare was in the media spotlight again this week as Sky TV visited the site to find out more about the work we’re doing around sustainable PPE.
Leading the way in Nimbuscare’s green campaign is Dr Rumina Önac, GP at Old School Medical Practice in York and one of our regular GP lead and vaccinator at the York Vaccination Centre.
Dr Önac has been driving our recycling and sustainable culture
“We’ve been encouraging staff and volunteers to dispose of all our waste, including clinical waste in the right way, helping to save our planet.
“I’m so proud of what we are doing at the vaccination centre and It’s great to share this good practice but I want to encourage more people to use reusable masks.”
Rumina has been lobbying manufacturers and sits on the RCGP climate emergency advisory group with like-minded GPs. They are currently focusing on waste management, particularly focusing on PPE and vaccine waste, such as disposable masks.
“We’re trying to make it easy for people – but we can always do better,” she added.
Prof Mike Holmes is also supporting the effort to introduce resusable PPE.
“This is the right thing to do and we will do all we can to encourage people to be more aware of this issue. We’re looking to get more supplies of reusable masks at the Vaccination Centre, thanks to Dr Omac’s great work here,” he said.
