Nimbuscare Appoints New Chief Executive Officer – Simon Morritt to Lead Next Phase of Development
Nimbuscare is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Morritt as its new Chief Executive Officer. Simon, who is retiring from his current role as Chief Executive of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will be joining Nimbuscare in the Autumn of 2025, as he transitions from his role in the acute sector to lead the next chapter of Nimbuscare’s growth.
With over 20 years of experience as a Chief Executive across a number of Acute NHS Trusts in Yorkshire, Simon brings a wealth of strategic and operational leadership to the organisation. His background also includes setting up and leading Primary Care Trusts, giving him a deep understanding of both hospital and community care systems – experience that is especially relevant as the NHS 10 Year Plan continues to evolve.
Nimbuscare, a GP-led community provider, delivers a range of integrated services including out-of-hours (OOH) care and a community frailty hub. Under Simon’s leadership, the organisation will continue to work collaboratively with local, regional and national partners to strengthen integrated care and support system-wide efforts to deliver the ambitions of the NHS 10 Year Plan.
Speaking about his new role, Simon Morritt said:
"I am excited to be joining Nimbuscare at such an important and dynamic time. The opportunity to lead a GP-led organisation that plays a central role in community-based care is something I greatly value. I look forward to working closely with system partners to build on Nimbuscare’s progress and contribute to delivering the ambitions of the NHS 10 Year Plan."
Chair of Nimbuscare, Professor Mike Holmes, added:
"We are absolutely delighted that Simon is joining us. His experience, leadership, and understanding of both acute and community services make him ideally placed to guide Nimbuscare through the next stage of its journey. As we strive to work with all our partners to improve care and deliver the NHS 10 Year Plan, this is a pivotal moment. We feel well positioned and well supported to make a meaningful contribution to our local system and the patients we serve."
